well, after almost 3 months, i guess it's time i get on here! so...a brief catch up on what's been going on...

the big news...i'm dating this AMAZING guy named Tim. i've known him for a long time, but finally at the end of december i said yes when he asked me out! we went out on new years, and we haven't spent a weekend apart since then. he's wonderful...he's perfect, but i didn't realize what a fit we would be until recently. we joke about his persistence paying off, but i think that things just had to happen in God's time. luckily, i guess that time is now! i can't imagine life without him! here's what i made him for valentines day...

i haven't been to scrappy lately. i did clean up and finally moved the table into the scrap room at my house. actually, tim helped me clean up :) i'm hoping this will inspire me to get busy!

things are going pretty well at school...same old, same old! we're going on a field trip to Andersonville on friday...we can't wait! i'm a little nervous because after spring break (which is only 2 weeks away!!!!!) we have the CRCT. this year, all 8th graders have to pass math to go to the high school, so as an 8th grade math teacher, the pressure is on!

i guess that was the reader's digest version of what's gone on so far in 2008. here are some more pics...

HAPPY '08!!!

I've recovered from last night, and I'm settling down for some Georgia football! I'm jealous because my brother's there and I'm stuck here on the couch...at least I won't have to wait in line for the bathroom :)

Hope your new year festivities were fabulous...mine were! I went with a friend to party. The apt we went to was down town Atlanta. The view was AMAZING! I had so much fun, but my camera died. The only pic I have from the night is this one...glad it turned out so cute!

As the new year rolls in, i have high hopes...no resolutions, but hopes for great things. Enjoy the rest of the night, and GO DAWGS...SIC 'EM...WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!!!!!!!!!!

i'm at my parents ready for santa...that's right. i'm 27, and i'm going to get up early to see what gifts are sitting out on the couch from the big guy in the red suit...and i'm proud of it!!!

here are some pics of my preparatory week...

this is my Sunday school class at our Christmas lunch. since we're all young and single, it's easier to meet for lunch than to have covered dish!here's my cute baby, Sassafras, in her santa baby shirt...she hates it!!!my tree all decorated with red and black!my parents didn't have a tree up when i came home, and i insisted that they get one! mama and i went on friday morning...with starbucks in hand, and picked one out. of course, we left it on top of the car for daddy to unload it :)my great aunt didn't have a tree either. she sold all of her Christmas decorations years ago, then bought a new pretty house this fall. her daughter and son-in-law are coming to stay with her in the new house, and i think they needed a little tree! i bought this one for her, and we decorated it on saturday. she was thrilled!!

as Christmas traditions go, this one is probably my fav...the candle light service at church. i brought in the camera and snapped a pic this year! it's a little blurry, but i think it's a cool effect!

well, now that all the prep work is finished, it's time to enjoy the holiday. have fun celebrating this CHRISTmas with your family!

i can not believe i'm all caught up on Christmas prep! now it's time to relax!!! of course, relaxing means cleaning the house, taking out trash, washing clothes, and maybe then i can do a little scrapping! as soon as i get some decent pics of the tree, i'll post them!

as a teacher, i love this time of year. not because i get half a month off (which is FABULOUS!) but for many reasons...the kids are in the best mood. sure, they're wild and crazy ready to get out, but still, happy students are better than bumbed out students! also, it's exam time...those are easy days for everyone...especially when giving scantron tests. i've said from the beginning of the year that this was going to be a good one, but i've been really surprised at how close i've gotten with some of my students. one of them came with her mom to visit me on monday. she gave me an amazing gift, which made me think...how did i get so lucky? it's not about the gift, it's about students who care as much about me as i do about them. if i wouldn't have followed God's direction sending me back to t-town, i wouldn't have these amazing 140 8th graders that i look forward to seeing each day! as i approach two weeks without them, i know i'll them! however...for now, i'm enjoying time without grading papers, any lesson plans, or getting flip charts ready for the next week! woo hoo...Christmas break is here!!!!!

well, i had to leave school early today to go to the doctor...have i ever said how much i hate the doctor? if not, I HATE THE DOCTOR! except for this one time where he was hot...and single, but that's a different story! anyways...i have gastritis. how yuck does that sound??! my dad told me i'm turning into an old woman! so, i'm going to lay here, watch full house and hope my tummy feels better...it couldn't get worse than it felt this morning!

hope you're feeling great today...i'm sure i'll be better once i get some drugs in my system!

4-a frame for my friend anna who is teaching in Africa (hope she doesn't see this...if you do, hope you love it!)

this is the last week of the year with students! teachers go next monday morning, but then we're all out for the year! that sounds so amazing!!! two and a half weeks of sleeping in, scrapping late at night, and having time to do the little things around the house...like clean!

so, this weekend was the GA/FL game. i ended up going with my parents, which was really ok with me. instead of going to the landing, i had dinner payed for, worked on my school stuff, and slept! the BEST part of the trip was WE WON!!!!!! finally, i was at a ga-fl game that ended up the right way :) GO DAWGS!!! here are some pics...

have you ever wondered who your true friends are? i'm going through this right now. things have been happening around me that make me question the people who i called my friends. from skipping out on my birthday to talking behind my back, i just don't know who to trust. pray about this if you will. it's making me depressed to the point that i would rather sit at home alone:(

it started like any other monday...

this was such a great day...i felt i needed to write a little so i can remember it :)
it started off like any other monday...but i stopped at Truet's for breakfast...yummmmm!!! this, of course, made me late, but not too late! today was the last day of ITBS so i had a little time to get things straight before i had to start teaching the kiddos. all of my classes were really, really good today. like, just about the best overall they have been all year...even my class that makes me want to cry was great! i'm giving them treats tomorrow :) i left school at a decent time, and i took a short, yet refreshing nap. then, as i am watching tv, the phone rings and it's this amazing...yet younger :/... guy. we talked for a while, which totally made me smile :) :) :) i watched the first episode of dancing with the stars, made my votes for jennie garth, watched lauren on the hills, then caught the end of the bachelor (more yummy than breakfast!). i know it wasn't all that eventful, but it was A FABULOUS DAY!!! now, i'm up too late, so it may not be repeated tomorrow, but i hope it will carry over!

it's amazing how far behind you can get when the summer comes to an end! on this official last day of summer, i'm still trying to catch up on everything...including this :) school is great! i love my kids...i had some of them in 6th grade, so the back to school transition didn't last very long. we have so much on us trying to reach AYP. i know that public school is a government run institution, but it seems that sometimes thing would be better if teachers could teach instead of doing paper work for the state! anyways...enough of that!

football season has started...my favorite time of the year! i love waking up on saturdays in athens, watching game day on ESPN while getting ready for the game...tailgating in 100 degree weather then spending the afternoon/evening with 96,000 of my closest friends wearing red and black in sanford stadium! for those of you who aren't in to football...you don't know what you're missing! here are a few pics of the past 3 weeks at UGA games...

we also went to the braves game for stephie's birthday...fun game...even if there's no hope of any post season action :(

other than that, not a whole lot going on. not a lot of time for anything else! i do have an opinion question for those of you reading this...what is too much of an age difference between couples? i am 26...what age is too young for me to date???

FINALLY!!! i'm back among the living...i have cable and internet! i felt like i missed out on so much over those 2 weeks without it! here's a quick catch up...

in july i went to the mountains again..it was fabulous! so relaxing :) here are a couple of pics from the trip.

lots of hanging out with holly...4th of july and laying out. i got so burned i peeled for a month!!!

one of my really good friends, Anna, left for 2 years. she'll be in Africa teaching at a missionary school. we had gotten really close over the past few months, and i already miss her! here we are at her surprise going away dinner and on the morning that she left...
my cousin caroline got married...she's a year older than me, so i guess all the focus is going to be on me since i'm the only single girl left in the family! if i'm ok with that, why can't everyone else be??! :)
i started back to work on the 23rd. can you believe school starts in july??! my kids came back on the 26th. i already feel like i had never left. so far, things are going REALLY well. all of my classes are wonderful. i can't wait to see all we can accomplish this year. i just want the kids to love math! hopefully, then they will want to learn :) i'll have to take some pics of my classroom to share! here i am walking out the door on the first day...

ok, so now i'm back online, and i plan on blogging everyday...even if i have nothing to say :) leave comments, because i've missed my stalking time when it comes to your blogs! fill me in...

i house/baby sitting this week, and while the internet time has been low, the scrappy time has been great! (ok, it's not really babysitting...sarah is 17, so it's a super easy job!) here are a few things i've done!

i'm trying to do some blog catch-up here, and to start things off...jo tagged me, so here i go!

here are 7 random facts/habits about me!

1- i'm a huge UGA fan...i know, not all that interesting...but, i can count on my hands the number of home games i've missed in the past 20 years on my two hands! GOOOOO DAWGS!!!

2- i danced for over 10 years...tap, ballet, and jazz. i broke my collar bone tailgating at a UGA football game, and that ended the dance career. don't worry, i still made it to the game after a trip to the ER!

3- i hate the water! i can swim...even took lessons when i was young, but i hate it! maybe it's the bathing suit!

4- i have a dream of becoming a drummer in a band. i know i'm getting a little too old for this dream , but i don't think it will ever fade...I WANT TO BE A ROCK STAR!!!

5- i have OCD...that's right, i should be medicated :) i have to eat in even numbers, walk in even steps, and just feel balanced all the time. for example, if i get tapped on my left shoulder, i have to touch my right shoulder so it evens out. it's pretty bad, but not all that noticeable unless you're looking for it!

6- my cat's name is sassafras; here's how i named her...i was with the boy i was...ummm...dating...hanging out with...whatever...and we were laying around looking at a rhyming dictionary. we started looking at the bad words, and sassafras was my favorite choice that rhymed; plus, i can call her sassy for short!!!

7-i've moved 5 times in the past 2 years, and i'll be doing it once more in the next month! it's craziness, but it helps me from collecting too much clutter! i'm hoping that this next move will be for at least a couple of years. unless i meet the man of my dreams and get married...which i don't see happening any time soon...unless someone reading this knows someone ;)

there have been fires in south georgia going on for a while now...and today, the haze and smell of smoke are covering the state! as soon as i walked outside, i thought the house was on fire! the smokiness covers all of metro atlanta! i heard on the radio that 600 square miles are covered with a black cloud...CRAZY!!! rain, please come and wash the haze away!!!

another great weekend has come and gone, and judging from the temp outside, summer is just about here!

saturday was a good day...went to my lss, and the owner asked me if i could work at the store this summer while she's gone for a couple of weeks!!! wooohooo!!! maybe i'll get some things done while i'm there! on the way home, my mom and i went and played bingo. i know it sounds rediculous...but it's way too much fun!

yesterday was a great sunday...after church, anna, tim, and i went to the art show and the taste of fayette. you buy tokens and use the tokens to "sample" local restaurants that are all set up in tents downtown. we had really good quisadillas and topped them off with cotton candy...my fav! there were some beautiful things at the art show. i wish i had money to buy some of the things. tim is all about art, so he had more of an appreciation for the things we saw. anna and i zoomed in on the jewelry! i wish i would have taken more pics; i only got this one of anna and i as we were headed back to the car...

i'm headed back to my house tomorrow, and i plan on doing nothing but scrapping all week!!! it's been too long since i've done that! hopefully, you'll see lots of those LO's posted soon :)

i'm off to lunch with anna banana...have a marvelous monday!

hope all you moms out there had a wonderful mother's day! ours was a fun, full day, and i think my mom really enjoyed it!

we started out, after church, at my aunt's house for lunch. yummmmy! then, while the moms washed all the dishes, the men sat outside on the front porch...hmmm...something seems wrong with that!

here we are...benjamin mama, aunt dorothy, daddy, and me!

after that, we headed over to holly's for her graduation/going away party. she's leaving on tuesday for a 3 week mission trip to mozambique, africa...man, we're some cute SINGLE girls!

to end up the day, we went to visit my uncle for his birthday...this is him with his wife, 2 of his daughters, and one of the grand daughters...sorry kayla...i know you were already in your pj's!

i have so many things i want to post, but since the bed is calling, i'm going to limit it to Delta!

today was such a fun family day! mama, daddy, benjamin, and i all went to the unveiling of the new delta widget! there was a flyover with the first plane showing the new symbol, games, performers, cotton candy, bill elliot, tons of photo ops, and so much more! here are some pics of the day...

so, i was having a rough day subbing...like making me rethink next year (i was subbing for 7th grade, the same kids i will have next year in 8th)...and all of a sudden i see this

friday was the relay...

here i am with my mom...it was pretty cold for a May night in GA!

staying up all night meant no scrappiness on NSD, but i did catch up on some sleep :)

today was church...unfortunately, i slept in again, but i did make it to sunday school and to my VBS meeting tonight! i also finished a layout and a couple of cards, including one for mothers day! this is good so i won't have to worry about it next weekend!

i know this is a pretty boring blog, but i had a few mins to write a little!

ps...did you know the stick that holds up the hood of a car is called the prop rod...haha...made me laugh!

i have sooo much to say tonight, and since i've made 2...that's right...TWO...trips to starbucks today, i'm wide awake to share it all!

first, i led another disciple now at a church in a neighboring county. it was tons of fun. we talked about putting on the armor of God. i had middle school girls, so you can only image the conversations we had while on our sugar highs! here are a couple of cute pics...second...a HUGE THANKS to martha! for this amazing RAK! LOVE IT!!!

third...happy birthday Brett! we all went to ESPN Zone last night for dinner. great fun...and pretty good food! here are some shots of the night...

:) have you ever driven down the road and in front of you the sky is blue and getting dark, behind you the sky is pink (gorgeous!), the sun is to your left, and the moon to your right. AMAZING!!!
:) do you have a friend you can be mad at, put all your cards on the table, talk for an hour on the phone, then wind up scrapping together all night? if you don't have a wonderful best friend you can do all of this with...within 24 hours...you should find one! a best friend is such a blessing!
:) tv on dvd...i may have said this before, but one of the best creations EVER...other than google!
:( the future...why is everyone i know getting engaged or married. i'm the oldest, it should be me!!!

4. What are your favorite TV shows? Grey's 100%, House, 24, Numb3rs, Lost, CSI, Gilmore Girls, What About Brian, Criminal Minds, Men in Trees...those are the currents that I watch weekly. I won't bother you with the LONG list of old ones like 90210, Saved by the Bell, Felicity, Full House...

5. What did you have for breakfast this morning? coffee...a whole pot!

first, i want to say that VaTech is in my prayers and will be for the tragedy that occured this morning. it's so scary to think about something like this happening in a school. you just never know what can happen. that's why i thank God for every day that he allows me to stay on this earth.

it's so nice to have the day off! the day was very uneventful...actually totally uneventful! i finished the first page for my 2006 scrapbook, watched A LOT of tv, but i did make dinner. i so enjoy days like this!

hope you all had a fabulous Easter. as you spent time with friends and family, i hope you had time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday...this is the most important day in history!

i'm in a good mood, so i wanted to share some of the things that have been making me happy over the past couple of days...
*BASEBALL SEASON!!! i just love the braves, and while football is my favorite sport, i can't get enough of the all-American past time! as i write this, i'm taking a break from scrapping while i watch the Braves and Phillies!
*...which brings me to scrapping! i just finished a page in less than an hour, which i never do! it's pretty plain, but i think i like it!
*yesterday, i rode past a bank. there was a cute old-man security guard standing outside with a lollipop! way to precious!
*great new scrappy site i've joined. i heard of it from becky's blog...thanks:)
*my mom came to my house and spent the night last night. she even made a few cards while holly and i worked on our stuff.
*peanut butter milk shakes...enough said!
*a new show i found on bravo today called top design. it's like a reality show for interior designers...fabulous!
*people reading my blog! this makes me incredibly happy! if i had any money at all, i would send out an RAK...however, i do not! just wait until i start teaching again. as soon as the paychecks come in, i'll be sending stuff to y'all all the time!!! make sure you leave comments though...i just love that :)

so, i went in to sub last tuesday, and as i was signing in the math coach asked me if i had ever taught algebra. i did during my practicum and student teaching, so she me to see the current algebra teacher at the school. (ok, you need to know some back ground if you don't know me...i taught math at a middle school for the past 2 years. the first year i was in 8th grade and really liked it, then i moved to 6th and didn't care for it too much. it was enough to inspire me to start grad school at georgia. after the first semester, i found myself broke with a huge desire to teach again. so, i started subbing at the school where i taught last year even though it's quite a distance from where i'm living...i think that's enough!) so, i'm doing a long term for her while she's out having surgery. last friday, the principal offered me a job teaching 8th grade agian. I'M SO EXCITED! i'll be taking the place of one of the people i most enjoyed working with, but she's moving to a math connections class to work with kids who are below standards so i'll get to see her around! to those of you who know how unhappy i seamed in t-town, know that i don't plan on moving back right away. i do still want to teach at the school, i just don't know that it's the best place for a single girl to live! we'll wait and see what happens starting in july!
i really didn't mean for that to be so long, but there ya have it! :)

on another note...went to the BEST scrapbook store ever today! i decided that i don't spend enough time getting things done. i have such big plans, but many of them never come to fruition because of my laziness or procrastination. since it's now spring break, that's what i'm going to work on this week! i'm pretty pumped up about finishing some things...which means there will be pics to come!

disciple now is always such a fun time for the youth at church. i was so lucky to have the opportunity to lead the juniors and seniors this year. it's funny...i had both of these groups when they were in 7th grade as well. it's amazing how God is at work with these girls, and i can see how far they have come from those bratty middle schoolers who made me rethink becoming a teacher! our speaker Chris spoke about becoming abandoned to God-we are lost, found, and called. we must be able to identify ourselves as His children and come to the realization that He has faith in us like He wants us to have in Him. the girls really opened up...of course that may because they are too crazy for words!!!

the most important thing to realize is that other than the sessions, FOOD is the most important part of the weekend! we stuffed ourselves and between friday at 7 and sunday morning we had 6 gallons of sweet tea...from chick-fil-a of course! the mix of girls was unique and added up to NO cliques, NO arguments, and NO sleep! imagine having 10 girls in a house with only 2 showers and there being no problems. we went bowling for free time on saturday and everyone had a great time doing that...except staphanie whose arm got tired...weakling!

just sitting here bored, so i thought i would babble a little :)
this past weekend was great! holly and i took over my house, which my roommate (aka brother) hated, with all of our scrappity stuff. we stayed up until all hours of the night, actually the early hours of the next day, and we didn't worry about what we looked like. it was fabulous! we both got a lot done, and it's a good thing because i'm pretty sure we won't get to do it again for a while :( here are some of the pics from the days of fun...

just to end up on a funny note...here's my dad sleeping in the car yesterday. we had to make a drive to a funeral home (a friend-of-the-family's mom passed away) about an hour away. apparently he needed a nap :)

since holly had class today, i'm waisting time on the computer instead of scrapping...
i was reading elsie's blog, and she wrote one about her favorite photo, and that, of course, made me want to show you mine!
i know it seems like a silly one, but that's one of the reasons i love it so much! this is one that kirby and i took of ourselves. we were in gatlinburg for winter break last february, and we had paused the dvd player while one of the other guys with us left the room. have you ever sat and watched the little dvd icon float around the screen while it's paused? well, if not, you should know that it hits the corner very rarely. kirby and i foud this facinating, so much so that we were told to shut up because we screamed every time it happened! to waist more time until we could start the movie again, we decided to take some pictures. we started out smiling, but none of those normal happy pictures were working. without telling each other to make a face, we both did...and this is what we got! no make up, in our pjs, wearing the new aviator glasses, fun, amaing picture! kirby was killed in a car accident this past august, and every time i see this i know how fortune i am to have been blessed having him in my life!

well, it's only thursday, and i know that nothing can make this week less than fabulous! it started out on a rough note with the death of my great-aunt. it was not a fun day :( Since then, it has drastically improved...not because of anything big, just nothing bad! holly and i had planned an all scrapbooking kind of weekend, and we started early...on tuesday! i've gotten several pages finished, and she has finished a gift albums for one of our friends. spring break starts up here next week, and most of our friends are going out of town, so we're kicking it off here without them but with our scrapbooking supplies! there will be more posts to show my accomplishments...hopefully many of them :)
well, i made taco soup for dinner...yum, yum...and then the fun begins!

what an amazing week this has been!

i went with the youth group from my church to the ski/Bible conference in gatlinburg. i always love chaperoning trips and stuff, but this was the best thing i've ever been to.we had an amazing speaker, John, and wonderful worship leaders, the Akins ( nick was leading this weekend) who are actually members of our church. God really opened my eyes to things in my life that are preventing me from getting in the game instead of just cheering the team from the side lines. other than the powerful sessions, we also had a lot of FUN!!!!! we walked around gatlinburg one day and pigeon forge the next (which of course meant shopping at the outlet :)) i was able to spend some time with a couple of my favorite girls in the youth group, and i built a lot of relationships with some of the other chaperones. it's a trip of which God will remind me often!

i got in to the home town on Thursday night, then yesterday morning i had to fly out to Oklahoma for one of my dearest friend's wedding. it was beautiful, and i got to spend time with friends i really, really, really miss!!! if only there was more time. i feel like i didn't really get to catch up with everyone.

what a happy valentines day this has been! my friend phillip took me to an early dinner and then to a movie (smoking aces...pretty good!!). he's a great guy; he even brought me a rose!

not only has this v-day led to some fun v-day card making, but i've done some scrapping the past couple of days as well. i'm also happy b/c i'm back at my house instead of being stuck at the parentals! this means i'm surrounded by scrapping stuff...and i have my warm cozy care bears blanket which is fabulous to snuggle up with now that it's cold outside (i feel like a 6 year old instead of a 26 yr old!)!

well, i'm still stuck at the parentals' without a car :( instead of creating all kinds of pages for the scrapbook, i've been looking at tons of other LOs. i did make one for my 25th b-day, but when i looked at it again today, i changed my mind...so i'm going to redo it! here's some pics i took from around the house...

the rest are all of sassafras...her new favorite pillow is my scrapbook...she has discovered she loves popcorn (no wonder she's a fatty!), and of course, she wanted to be in the picture that i was trying to take of a layout (the one i don't like).

so, i have no car to use since my brother's isn't drivable since yesterday's accident. that's right...i'm that nice sister who gave up her car for him to use...actually, he's using my dad's who is driving my mom's who is driving mine. does that make sense??! anyway...this led to me being home all day with the poor kitty girl who had to get shots yesterday and doesn't feel like being playful today. i've try to make use of my time...you know a lot of computer games and watching tv :) most of my scrapping stuff is at my house, and i'm here at my parent's, so i can't really even do that! instead, i signed up on two peas in a bucket. i have 2 albums up and going. take a look!!!

have you ever had one of those days? i had one today. woke up late, 3rd period was the worst EVER, kitty accident in the car which led to a bath (poor sassafras!), my brother had a car accident, and so it goes...but some how, now that i think back on it, it was a great day! waking up late meant no dunkin donuts which i don't need, 3rd period was so bad that 4th period seemed AMAZING! plus, while teaching them, i now know exactly what a noun clause is, how to pick it out in a sentence, and how to include one while writing sentences! sassy girl is clean and shiny now, and God showed me how awesome my friends are by helping out my brother when i wasn't there. life is for living, not seeing how much can go wrong.

have you ever been on the computer and suddenly it was 2 hours later??! it just happened...and at this point, it's been 2 and a half! there are so many fabulous blogs out there to see, but where do i draw the line? can i try to work on every scrapbooking challenge out there? besides the 52 card challenge for a deck of cards, i'm totally inspired by ali edwards one word challenge...i think my one word for the year is going to be independence. i'm still thinking about it, but i guess i should chose a word since it's already Feb, and the point is to focus on the word throughout the year!

i would say it's about bed time since i have a class of 8th graders to deal with bright and early, but i did take a nap which means a little more computer time!

isn't it amazing what you can find on the internet? from pictures to your favorite music, movie quotes and cliff notes, the web provides many bits of information that we all search for. today, however, i found something unesxpected...INSPIRATION!!!
while surfing, i found the page pencil lines. i got to this page while i researched my favorite scrapbooker...elsie flannigan. while looking around the site, i came to the conclusion that the internet provides a place for everyone, and i am now claiming my spot!
i dedicate this page to my creative side...from scrapbooking and card making to altered projects of all shapes and forms, i want to be published. since i tend to be lazy with sending in some of my pages to magizines and other publications, i hope this blog will be an easy substitute...even if it means i'm ublishing my own work! you never know who may be looking around out there. maybe this will lead to a second carear (my first is as a middle school math teacher) as a true scrapbook artist...one that can be found in a book or magizine...ahh...dreams!
